Windows 98 – Schalten Sie die lästigen Registerkarten in MSN Messenger ab

MSN Messenger 7 offers many functions via tabs on the left-hand side of the program that connect to advertising and spam providers or MSN's own services (e.g. MSN Music). Annoying, we say, and if you agree with us, we will show you how to remove these tabs as quickly as possible:

1. Click on Start/Execute and click on Execute. Enter the command regedit and confirm with Enter.

2. Now expand the key path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings and select each subkey containing a number (e.g. 59111337) once. Search there for the value DisableTabs. If this is not available, right-click in the right-hand pane and select New/DWORD value.

3. Now name this DisableTabsdouble-click on the newly created value and enter a 1 in.

After the next restart of MSN Messenger 7, you'll be rid of the annoying advertising index cards and can concentrate on the essentials: Chatting carefree!
