Windows 98 – Probleme bei der Installation von Windows XP

If you have decided to give up your Windows 98 and opt for the new Microsoft powerhouse, you may come up against a major hurdle when installing Windows XP.

The installation program then acknowledges its service with the following message:

Haupteinsprungpunkt für C:\Windows\System\Vipersti.cpl nicht gefunden. Fehler:127 [FEHLER=127 (7Fh)]……der Produktkatalog konnte nicht gefunden werden.

The problem lies with a folder in the Windows 98 directory. Windows XP is not able to delete this folder, which is why you should do it yourself.

Windows XP – Installationsprobleme beheben

1. Double-click on Workplace and navigate one after the other to C:\ > Windows.

2. Now search for the folder Cartroot and simply delete it.

From now on your Windows XP installation will be a success, so I wish you a lot of fun and recommend the Windows XP setup chapters of Windows Tweaks.
