Windows 98 – Netzwerkrechner schneller hochfahren lassen

Each computer has a specific identification number, the so-called IP, which classifies it as a computer in the network. Windows 98 now matches the IP of your own computer dynamically, which is why it is much faster if you assign a fixed IP so that Windows no longer has to do this work.

Important: You should only make this change if your network card is also used as such and is not used for the DSL connection.

Netzwerkrechner schneller hochfahren – so gehen Sie vor

1. Right-click on the network icon on your desktop and select Properties.

2. Now switch to the tab Configuration and search for the entry TCP/IP [network card] where [Network card] stands for your respective model. Now select Properties.

3. Now select under IP address the entry Set IP address and enter in the first line 192.168.0.1 in. For the next computer, only the last line changes by one digit. The second calculator is then called 192.168.0.2 und so weiter…

Under Subnet Mask enter the number 255.255.255.0 and finally confirm with OKwhereupon a restart is due. Your Windows 98 computer will now boot up much faster.
