Applocker in Windows 7: Control your applications

Applocker1

Of course, each user must first clarify for themselves how useful this function is for them and what benefits can be derived from it. A private individual will probably use this function less frequently than the operator of an Internet café.

What does Applocker do for me?

Applocker offers the option of creating rules that prevent the execution of certain files. Applocker accesses specific properties of digitally signed files for this purpose: Publisher, product name, file name, file version. Rules can be created only for certain file versions or for certain publishers, which are then retained when the specific files are updated. It is important to note that Applocker rules determine which files may be executed. Files that are not included in the rule may not be executed! Applocker rules offer another advantage: they can be assigned in different ways. It is therefore no problem to assign rules to individual users or security groups. Assigning them to an Internet zone, to registry paths or to a computer is also no problem.
