Viele Benutzer haben sich ein parallel laufendes Betriebssystem eingerichtet. So ist es möglich beispielsweise Windows Millennium mit Windows 2000 nebenher zu betreiben – solch eine Konfiguration nennt man in der Fachsprache Dualboot. Bei jedem Systemstart erscheint ein Menü (Bootmenü), welches ihnen die Wahl zwischen den Betriebssystemen lässt. Dieses Bootmenü bleibt meistens genau 30 Sekunden ehe es automatisch zu einem Windows wechselt, wenn Sie nicht selbstständig ausgewählt haben. Diese Zeit lässt sich bequem anpassen:
1. Click on Start > Settings >System control and select System.
2. Now call up the Extended forward and select in the section Starting and restoring the button Settings to.
3. In the next window you will see to the right of the line Display duration of the operating system list a number. Here you can set in seconds how long the boot menu should appear until the Windows version on which the cursor is positioned starts. Once you have entered the desired number, you can click on Ok and restart your computer.
