How the official Windows blog from Microsoft US reported, Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista (and Server 2008) is ready. It contains all the updates that have been released since SP1, as well as some new functions. These include:

  1. Windows search 4: Speeds up searches by up to 30%.
  2. Bluetooth 2.1: Support for the latest Bluetooth specifications.
  3. exFAT file system: Improved file system for flash memory.
  4. Blu-Ray burning function: Allows Blu-Rays to be written using Windows Explorer.
  5. Saving function: SP2 is supposed to save the battery of notebooks and allegedly last 10% longer.
  6. Flotter: In addition to some performance updates, the recognition rate of USB devices has also been improved. Communication between Windows and firewalls is also faster!

But beware: The Service Pack 1 of Windows Vista (Download here) is a prerequisite!

Service Pack 2 will be available in the next few days via Windows Update or the Microsoft download pages. Windows-Tweaks will of course keep you up to date!

Sincerely,
Sandro Villinger
