The Windows 2000 mouse shadow is a bigger resource hog than many people think. To save a little processor computing time, you should deactivate this nice feature.
1. Click on Start > System controls. In the following window you open Mouse by double-click.

2. Now switch to the tab Pointer and remove the checkmark in front of Activate pointer shadow.
