Beim Starten der Installieren einer Anwendung wie z.B. WebCam Software oder O&O Defrag V4 bleibt der Assistent plötzlich stehen. Der Begrüßungsbildschirm lässt Sie entweder keine Auswahl treffen (Schaltflächen Weiter und Abbrechen sind nicht anwählbar bzw. grau hinterlegt) oder das Setup startet nach der obligatorischen Meldung InstallShield bereitet den… nicht – der Bildschirm bleibt leer. Mehr als die typische Sanduhr nach dem Start des Setups bekommen Sie nicht. Folgendermaßen lösen Sie das Problem:
Option 1: Download and install the Microsoft Installer 2.0which brings the Windows installation routine up to the latest state of the art.
Option 2: The InstallShield routine could also cause problems if applications such as Office have not been uninstalled correctly. In the Registration an incorrect key is stored for canceled de-/installations, which causes problems when called up again. This key must now be corrected:
1. Klicken Sie auf „Start/Execute“ und tippen Sie „regedit" in.
2. Navigieren Sie zum Schlüssel „HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders“ und doppelklicken Sie auf den Eintrag „recent„.
Tragen Sie hier, falls es nicht dasteht, den Eintrag „C:\Eigene Dateien“ (oder den Pfad zu den Eigenen Dateien auf Ihrem Rechner) ein.
Wiederholen Sie diesen Schritt für den Ordner „HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders„.
The installation routine should work perfectly immediately after the restart!
Option 3: Von Sebastian Clausen erhielt ich den Hinweis, dass die Löschung eines bestimmten InstallShield Ordners das Installationsproblem ebenfalls löste. Falls Dateien, die vom Setup gefordert werden, nicht vorhanden pder beschädigt sind bzw. ungültige Versionsnummern tragen, so wird jener gelöschte Ordner vom betroffenen Setup komplett neu aufgebaut – mit den korrekten Dateien. Dies führt damit zum gewünschten Erfolg:
Open the Explorer the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield and delete the subdirectory Professional.
Option 4: Mr. Janzen informed me by e-mail that there is another option: The Windows installer can be completely re-integrated into the system or re-registered. And this is what you have to do:
1. Click on Start/Execute and type msiexec /unregister on. You will see an hourglass and hear the hard disk working briefly. The installer is now completely unbound for the time being!
2. Now tap under Execute the command msiexec /regserver to fully integrate MSI back into the system.
